Midgard Vikingcentre is closed until further notice in order to limit the spread of the corona virus.


HIGH SEASON (May 1–August 31)
Midgard Vikingcentre, café, the Viking Hall and the Viking playground.
Open everyday from 11am to 4pm.

LOW SEASON (September 1–April 30)
Midgard Vikingcentre, café and the Viking Hall.
Open every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

(The Viking playground is closed during low season. The café is not manned on Wednesdays.)

Open everyday between 11am and 4pm.

Easter break (April 15–19)
Open everyday between 11am and 4pm.

Adult:  90 NOK
Student/military: 70 NOK
Children (7–17): 70 NOK
Children (0–6): Free entrance
Family ticket: (2 adults and 2 children up to 17): 270 NOK
Groups: (Minimum 10 people): 70 NOK per person

  • The entrance ticket includes access to the Viking Hall, guided tour and the Viking playground.
  • We accept proof of companion for disabled people.
  • Other prices may apply during special events.

No need to purchase a ticket to visit the café or the Borre park and mounds.


Midgard Vikingcentre arranges scheduled guided tours during opening hours:

  • 1pm: Guided tour of the exhibition “Hauger, haller, hav”.
  • 2pm: Guided tour of the Borre park and the newly discovered Viking ship burial.

The guided tours are included in the entrance ticket.

Midgard Vikingcentre offers tours for small and larger groups all year round. We will tailor your Viking experience. Book a tour at a time of your choosing!

We offer guided tours in:

  • The exhibitions at Midgard Vikingcentre.
  • The Borre park, with the greatest collection of grave mounds from the younger iron age in the Nordics, including two viking ship burials.
  • The Viking Hall (guildhall), a unique and grand reconstruction of one of the great auditorums of the viking age.
  • The Viking playground, where you will be able to have a go at different Viking activities.


Midgard Vikingcentre is located right next to the Borre Mounds in Horten. Here are som options on how to get here.

Exit 34, “Undrumsdalskrysset” at E18 highway. Follow Riksvei 19. Take the first exit in the next roundabout to “Kirkebakken”. Make a left and follow the road to Midgard Vikingcentre.

The nearest bus stop is “Kirkebakken Borre”. Bus 01, 02 og 70 stops here.
