An International Gathering of Viking Knowledge, Culture, and Creativity
11.00 – 15.00 every day
Midgard Talks returns in 2026 with three days of fresh insight, new research, and vibrant perspectives on the Viking Age. We bring together leading international voice-researchers, museum professionals, musicians and dancers—to explore how the medieval history of the North continues to be understood, reinterpreted, and kept relevant today.
The program spans a wide and exciting range of themes: Viking ships, skaldic poetry, forgotten saga literature, enigmatic jewelry, Viking symbols in modern politics, the medieval Sámi and their religion, and the legacy of the Viking Age in contemporary music and art.
A special highlight of Midgard Talks 2026 is a conversation between Hallgrim Hansegård and Vicky Mikalsen. Together, they explore Hansegård’s interpretation of Völuspá as a dance performance infused with philosophical and psychological elements. His dance company, Frikar, will in 2026 bring Norse mythology to life through dance, contemporary circus, and innovative artistic expression.
Midgard Talks offers a unique opportunity to experience the Viking world from fresh angles—together with some of the most exciting researchers and artists working today.
Full program is coming soon.
