What is the Thor Heyerdal Scholarship?

The scholarship aims to stimulate interdisciplinary projects through class, group or individual work.

The prize pool is 50,000 kroner!

In addition to receiving a diploma and a scholarship, the winners will have the opportunity to present their contributions at the annual conference The Thor Heyerdahl International Day.

What do you have to do?

Follow the announcement, which will be posted on this page. 

The announcement will include the theme, format, how the contribution should be submitted - and the deadline.

Why?

The contributions help to further develop Thor Heyerdahl's UNESCO heritage, which is research and development ideals within interdisciplinary research, international dialogue and protection of the global environment.

The scholarship competition has had different themes each year, and creative students from all over the country have contributed hundreds of exciting contributions over the years.

Background

During the celebration of Thor Heyerdahl's 100th anniversary on October 6, 2014, the government gave a gift of NOK 150,000 to The Thor Heyerdahl Institute foundation with the intention of distributing these funds to committed young people in the form of scholarships.
