“Towards the forest” – a guided tour

The tour is a part of the event "Midgardsblot" at Midgard Viking Centre in Horten.

Learn about the life of the renowned painter Edvard Munch, known for his dramatic “Scream” painting.

Munch spent a lot of time in the picturesque town Åsgårdstrand where he painted some of his most famous paintings.

This guided tour starts at Borre camping and leads through the protected Fjugestad forest, following the coastal path all the way to Munch’s idyllic yellow house. Throughout the walk one of our talented tour guides will share stories from Munch’s life and art.

The trip culminates with a guided tour inside the house itself.

Those who wish can continue to explore the quaint town, including sandy beaches and delightful cafés. To return to Midgard it is possible to take a public bus which runs every half hour. Tickets can be purchased on board (45 kr).

The walk is about 3,7 km and takes approximately 2,5 hours. Language: English.
