We invite you to a mini-seminar on Charlotte Posenenske, where we explore the ideas and currents from the year 1968 that provided the backdrop for the artist’s production. Three invited speakers will provide insights into Posenenske and the style of art she adopted and discuss why her production has become so influential and what it can tell us today.
Speakers at the seminar are Marta Kuzma, professor at Yale School of Art in New Haven (USA); Drew Snyder, senior curator at KORO Public Art Norway; and Eloise Sweetman who co-curated the exhibition “Lexicon of Infinite Movement” with Charlotte Posenenske at the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterloo (NL) in 2019.
The seminar is in English and will be streamed on YouTube (click on the link).
Welcome!
Charlotte Posenenske
Charlotte Posenenske (1930 – 1985) was a German artist who examined the conditions of art, seriality and mass production. Her works were made during a limited period, before she quit the art world in 1968 after concluding that art was an ineffective way to address the social inequities she observed.
Her work gained posthumous attention and is part of numerous collections around the world, and Posenenske is counted among the pioneers of minimalism.
