Charlotte Posenenske - Installation Views

Exhibiton period: 1st February 2025 - 27th April 2025.

Exhibition opening:

Saturday 1st February, 1pm

Welcome!

Haugar Art Museum will present the exhibition Installation Views by the late German artist Charlotte Posenenske (1930-1985) from February 1st to April 27th, 2025.

The exhibition is the first full-scale presentation of the artist’s work in Scandinavia and will present works from all the artist’s major series of modular sculpture. Posenenske developed her practice in the early 1960s, and her work uniquely combined several strands running through the art of the 1960s: conceptualism, minimalism and socially engaged participatory art. Hun left the artworld behind in 1968 to focus on sociology.

Posenenske stated that “it is difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that art can contribute nothing to solving urgent social problems.” After the artist’s posthumous inclusion in the 2007 Documenta, her work has been widely presented in some of the most important museums and institutions around the globe.

In conjunction with the exhibition Lenz Press will publish a Installation Views, a comprehensive survey of images from the artist’s numerous solo exhibitions as well as the catalogue for the exhibition.

The exhibition is curated by Erlend Hammer and is realized with generous assistance from Galerie Mehdi Chouakri and Archiv Charlotte Posenenske.
