Welcome to a guided tour of the Slottsfjell museum, home of Norway’s only viking ship currently open to the public!
Learn about the Klåstad ship and its role in the international trade routes of the Vikings.
While here it is also possible to visit the Medieval exhibits and Whaling room. The museum is also the home of several historic houses which show what life was like in Norway in earlier times. Behind the museum is Slottsfjell, the hilltop which gives the museum its name. A short hike to the top and fleet of stairs up a tower gives you the best view of Tønsberg, Norway’s oldest town!
Transport to and from Slottsfjell Museum will be on public transportation. It is about a 20 minute bus ride. Tickets for the buss are purchased separately when boarding and cost 53 NOK one way (106 NOK roundtrip).
A guide will follow the group and make sure everyone gets off at the right stop and makes it back safely to Midgard Viking Centre.
- Departure from Midgard Viking Centre: 11:15 am. Meeting point by ATV outside Midgard Viking Centre
- Guided tour at Slottsfjell museum: 12:00 pm
- Departure from Slottsfjell museum: 2:00 pm
The group will be back at Midgard about 3:00 pm.
The tour is suited for adults. Max capacity is 40 people.
The tour is Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th of August, 11am - 3pm.
